The success of all development projects is dependent on planning.

We provide extensive experience and proactive planning advice in the specialist and complex areas of planning, highways and compulsory purchase and compensation.

What do we do?

We also advise on local government law, practice and procedures, and on environmental and climate change issues, not to mention all planning aspects of town and village greens and Assets of Community Value applications. Our proactive practical approach enables us to identify and resolve issues for our clients before they can turn into problems.

Through the lifespan of any scheme, our team are on-hand to advise on everything from the inception of a project, the strategy for moving that project forward through the planning application stage and any subsequent appeal, to court challenges if necessary.

Development projects are increasingly sophisticated and clients need planning lawyers who are experienced in their particular sector. With expertise spanning greenfield, urban and town centre regeneration and mixed-use schemes, we’ve advised on projects across the following:

  • Leisure and retail
  • Residential
  • Employment
  • Infrastructure
  • Minerals
  • Town centres
  • Highways and transport
  • Stadia
  • Tall buildings
  • Energy and waste
  • Logistics and distribution.
Notable practice advising on the full gamut of planning matters...Clients say: ‘The quality of their work is excellent; they're very approachable and responsive with clear and well thought out advice’
Chambers UK, 2019

Who do we help?

Much of our planning work is in the private sector, focusing on developers, landowners, housebuilders, retailers and elite sports clubs but we also work for or alongside local authorities on planning matters as well as delivering regeneration projects using compulsory purchase powers.
