Jake advises on both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. In his non-contentious work Jake assists on transactions acting on behalf of the entire construction supply chain advising on construction documents, including drafting bespoke schedules of amendments to standard form building contracts, professional team appointments and collateral warranties. He also frequently acts on behalf of funders (including clearing banks) in funded development projects and is familiar with the common issues that arise when acting in funded transactions.
Jake’s contentious experience includes assisting in resolving payment disputes, frequently through pre-action negotiation, as well as considering and preparing cases to be brought before an adjudicator. Jake has experience in successfully mediating disputes as well as litigating disputes through the County and High Courts.
While training with another firm, Jake was seconded to a large regional supplier to the construction industry and was sole legal counsel for the period of his tenure, advising the board on a wide range of commercial and construction issues.
